About

Flanigan's traces back to Joe "Big Daddy" Flanigan's first Big Daddy's Lounge, opened in Hialeah in 1959 as part of a South Florida chain of cocktail lounges and package stores popular with spring-break crowds. After a 1980s bankruptcy, the company pivoted its restaurants into the nautical-themed Flanigan's Seafood Bar and Grill concept starting in 1985, and the Coconut Grove location remains part of the long-running South Florida chain.
