J. Wakefield Brewing

About

Founded by brewmaster Johnathan Wakefield, the brewery officially opened its doors in 2015 after a wildly successful crowdfunding campaign. For nearly a decade, it served as a cornerstone of the Wynwood neighborhood, infusing the area's artistic flair with comic book and sci-fi culture. The physical taproom was legendary for its massive, floor-to-ceiling Star Wars and Marvel murals (featuring characters like Darth Vader, Yoda, and Han Solo) alongside comic book lithographs. It acted as a geek-culture sanctuary that regularly hosted food trucks and local pop-up chefs. They closed the doors to this location due to the rapidly changing real estate landscape of the neighborhood.
